Ugh!!’s Greymatter Honeypot

Hey Owen, I have a question about WP.

I’m currently running 2.0.5 because I don’t like to mess around with upgrades too much (I’m likely to screw things up lol).

But I’ve got WP 2.2 on a new blog and love it — especially the autosave feature, which is something I really need.

So my question is: can I go from 2.0.5 to 2.2, or do I have to install one of the intermediate upgrades first?

Hi Julie,

You can find detailed instructions on how to upgrade here: http://codex.wordpress.org/Upgrading_WordPress#Detailed_Instructions

The most important points are to backup everything before you try to do the upgrade. This way you can always roll it back to a working state.

I wanted to say thanks for the PPP Disclosure Badge plugin for wp. But I also thought I’d give you a heads up about something that would make a great step 2 or 3 in your installation instructions.

Your plugin won’t work without a call to wp_footer() somewhere in the footer.php file. I don’t know if it’s common practice to have that call in the footer, I’ve personally never seen it before, but I also develop a lot of my themes from scratch.

hi owen, i found you on the ppp boards and thought maybe you might take pity on an old woman (60) and give me a hand. my current blog is muffin53.blogspot.com and i decided after reading the boards to get my own domain. so now i have two blogs. the new one is hosted at godaddy with the server there as well. i got the template on there and the blog up and running but for the very life of me i simply cannot add any widgets, change the header, etc, and it is supposed to be so easy. any ideas? i don’t yet understand how to get it up to the server and down to the blog.

I am not sure if I am being rude for asking a self-imposed question out of nowhere.

Since I am new here - I like to start off with:
I like to humbly ask some techniques for blogging especially since i just started my own company specializing in coaching presentation skills. However, I haven’t blogged before and I know blogging could be a tedious tasks sometimes.

I am also building my own website (currently learning all the web tech), and would like to link my blog to my website. To avoid any misunderstanding, my blog is not that much for commercial values, but to help my customers/audience to learn skills or knowledge and both the company website and personal blog page should be closely interrelated, I think.

BTW, I am based in Thailand. Nice country, pleasant people

Question is:
1. What are the common pitfalls if I link my company website and personal blog together? Is this ‘professional’ to involve my personal blog?
2. I heard of some blogging software around, but haven’t tried them out yet. e.g., blogger, wordpress, typepad etc. In terms of ease of use, update functionality, aesthetics, and minimal costs , can someone please advise on this?

Any pointers to share would be greatly appreciated.

@Wolfie: Sorry for taking so long to get back to you. The “Related Posts” section is generated by Ultimate Tag Warrior. As you might know, newer versions of WordPress do tagging, so their might be native ways to do this on more recent versions

My Geowidget has stopped working and the only reason I can think of is that I added a weather widget - Geo was fine before. You kindly looked at the Geo before when I had trouble setting it up, any thoughts on why it should stop working now?
