The one reality TV show I actually would want to be on
Published by Nate Nance October 12th, 2007 in Noteworthy News, TelevisionApparently MTV has another reality show (Ed. note: Remember when you watched MTV for music videos? How old does that make me?) and this one stars Myspace hottie Tila Tequila.
In a twist on all those stodgy televised courtship tournaments, A Shot at Love sets 16 men and 16 women in pursuit of the heroine’s affections. Yes, Tila is proud to call herself bisexual. No, I’m not holding my breath in expectation that she’ll win an award from GLAAD. But far be it from me to question the passions that stir Tila’s heart and loins. I’ll leave that to You, the collective author of Wikipedia and its ilk, who has coined the term “MySpace bisexual.” The recreational lexicographers at UrbanDictionary.com bring the utmost delicacy to defining the term: “A girl who makes out with other slutty chicks at parties and then claims to be bisexual because it’s trendy to say so and gets people’s attention on myspace.”
Sadly, that seems to be the definition of bisexual for girls these days. Out of all the bisexual girls I know (and I know a lot
only two are actually bisexual. As in they actually date both men and women, not just make out with other girls when they’re drunk. That’s kind of sad.
Why girls find it so much easier to make out with each other than guys do, we may never know. I have a theory and it centers on them going to the bathroom together. If you can share intimate secrets while sitting in the next stall, then I guess a little tounge wrestling after a few Jaeger shots isn’t that big a deal. Feel free to throw out your theories in the comments.
Anyway, like the Slate writer says, Tila’s only talent seems to be to promote Tila (who incidentally doesn’t like tequila. Women!?). That wouldn’t stop me from trying to win her affections… or at least some pity sex. I am a cripple after all and I’ll take whatever benefits I can from it.
Alas, the show is underway and I’m not on it. Maybe there’ll be a season two…
