Welcome to October
Published by Nate Nance October 2nd, 2007 in This WeblogFor those of you who know me, October is just about my favorite month. Halloween is my favorite holiday. There’s just something about fall leaves, candy and R-rated horror movies that make me happy.
What doesn’t make me happy are parades that block the parking lot at work. The HOT Fair and Rodeo parade was today and they blocked off the entrance to the Trib parking lot so some smelly horses and a few cars could drive by a crowd on Franklin Ave.
To be honest I like parades. I had a great time a few Saturdays ago at the Founder’s Day parade. I got quite the candy hall. But I had to park more than a block away and walk to work and my limit on walking is about 50 feet. Usually that get’s taken up by the flight of stairs I have to negotiate everday when I go to the newsroom; today there was that plus a lot more walking. It puts me in a seriously bad mood because it makes my leg hurt like fucking hell. Space Monkey was trying to call me while I was carrying my Bush’s sweet tea and a bag with tissue paper and various OTC allergy meds. He wanted to know what I was doing tonight and I practically treated him like shit because I was pissed off after walking so much and having my leg hurt. Plus, I work at least 5 days a week; 6 this week. I’m always at work because it is football season.
Still, I was beng an ass because my leg hurt and I’ll probably have to apologize to him.
It didn’t help matters that when I woke up this afternoon, I felt like I was on my deathbed. There was a big jump in the pollen count the past few days and my allergies went haywire. I woke up feeling really congested with a bad sinus headache. A few Benadryl, Sudafed PE, Vicodin and a whole lot of noseblowing later, I was able to smell the horseshit lining the streets that I had to walk from the parade. Oh what a happy day.
There was a bit of sunshine. I saw someone that I care for very much at Fred’s (where I bought the tissue paper). It kind of brightened up my day until I got to downtown Waco.
Not a great start to my favorite month, but I’m hoping things will turn around. In fact, I expect one thing to really lift up my spirits. I’m saving that for when it is for sure, though.
