A protest?
Published by Nate Nance May 25th, 2007 in National Politics, This WeblogThe group Friends for Peace plans to protest Congressman Chet Edwards (D-Waco) for his vote for the recent supplemental war funding bill. He voted yea on the funding bill without benchmarks or timetables or whatever the new buzzword is.
I think they just don’t like him. I’ve met Chet enough times he’s wooed me and I’ll continue to vote for and support him, no matter what. Well, unless he’s a child molestor like Patrick Swayze was in Donnie Darko (it was on before Evil Dead 2 on Encore the other night) othwewise, he’s my guy.
Anyway, here’s there press release:
WACO, Tex.—The Waco Friends of Peace will sponsor a protest at Congressman Chet Edward’s office, 600 Austin Avenue, Waco, TX, Tuesday, May 29, 8:30a.m. The U.S. Congress on May 24 approved 94 billion dollars for the occupation of Iraq with no timetable for the withdrawal of U.S. troops or enforceable benchmarks for political progress by the Iraq government. Representative Edwards vote FOR the war financing bill. The Congress, including Mr. Edwards, has ignored the wishes of 63% of Americans, over 70% of Iraqis, and a majority of Iraqi Parliamentarians who demand a deadline for withdrawal of U.S. troops. In solidarity with peace groups throughout the country, we will express to Rep. Edwards our disgust with his vote to continue Mr. Bush’s Iraq war. More dollars means more deaths. We call on Mr. Edwards to truly support the troops by working to bring them home now.
