What is ‘offensive?’
Published by Nate Nance March 27th, 2007 in National PoliticsIt looks like the Senate will indeed pass a version of the House emergency troop funding bill. The stipulation here is that it will be a nonbinding call for withdrawal of US troops from Iraq in 2008.
So Round 1 will go to the Democrats. It turns out, you really can get them to agree with each other on something! I think Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnel is surprised by that. He was spouting off all weekend that he had the votes to block the bill in the Senate, but now he grudgingly admits that it will pass.
“The final bill is likely to have the offending language in it,” the Senate minority leader said as the Senate prepared to begin debating the war-funding bill, which sets March 31, 2008, as a goal for removing combat troops from Iraq.
The “offending language?” Mitch McConnell is ‘offended’ by the language in the bill?
Isn’t he one of those jackasses that wanted to amend the Constitution to prevent a significant portion of the American people from choosing who they want to marry? That’s what I call offensive. I find it offensive whenever people are relegated to a second-class status because someone’s twisted morality says they are not even human. I find it offensive when people who have taken so much from life cannot even see the need to help the poor and the homeless, but do see the need to cut taxes for people who make more than $250,000 a year.
You know, I think that if this was 1964, Mitch McConnell would be one of those senators that grudgingly admitted that the Civil Rights Act was going to pass with all of its “offending language.”
Douchebag.
