Where do I stand?
Published by Nate Nance January 18th, 2007 in Democratic Party, National Politics, This WeblogTo be honest, I’m a little hesitant to just jump into someone’s corner for 2008.
I like Obama. I like his personality, his charisma and I definitely like where he stands on Iraq. But I’m tired of just having a Democratic litmus test that candidates need to fit to get the nomination. I don’t want to go down a checklist to find the “right” guy (or woman).
I want someone to move me to vote for them, not vote for their issues. I’m tired of it being about who is right on the issues. I suppose I have a romantic version of what the presidency should mean and the current occupant has sullied that so much that I need a redeemer to step forward. I just don’t know if Sen. Obama is that redeemer.
Not unless I meet him in person. In today’s politics, who really gets the chance to do that?
Whoever it is, I really want to work towards being part of a campaign, not just covering it from afar. This day in age, you can’t not have a blog on your campaign Web site, so I’m sure someone will find some value in me. I mean, don’t they know my dream is to be a presidential speechwriter? Who would deny a cripple guy his dream?
