Go vote already
Published by Nate Nance November 7th, 2006 in This WeblogHow could you read this blog and not have voted already?
Go on your lunch break or something, just do it. The line wasn’t that long at my precinct. Ten minutes and I was out. And it was only that long because I seemed to have gone when all the elderly and other cripples voted. Seriously, there five other people there with canes, one lady who apparently left her cane in her car, three people in wheelchairs and one guy missing his leg wo was on crutches. It kind of creeped me out that I chose that moment to go to the polls. If it hadn’t been for the old woman in front of me had been able to wrap her head around the idea that there wasn’t a piecec of paper to fill out instead of our e-slate voting machines that we’ve had for over a year and the fact that her walker was blocking the aisle to the rest of the booths, I would have been done sooner.
I know you are all dying to know who I voted for… straight ticket Democrat. Except I voted for Jerry Patterson; he’s the only Republican I could ever vote for. And in races where there was a Republican and a Libertarian, I voted Libertarian. I even voted for the crazy guy who thinks his arrest will be great publicity in his race against Republican Kip Averitt. Averitt literally makes me want to throw up. If there was only a Republican, like in the county commissioner race with Ray Meadows, I left it blank.
Now that I’ve done my civic duty and my physio for the day, I’m going to get some sleep. Maybe I’ll see you at the All the Pinks Election Night Mingle in Austin tonight. Or, maybe I’ll see you at either the Chet Edwards or Van Taylor victory parties. I’m planning on attending all of them. It could be a long day.
