I’ll be checking in for surgery at 7 a.m. CDT tomorrow morning, so about 11 hours from now. I’m still anxious, but I’m also excited. In a few weeks, I could be walking again. That’s an amazing thought when most nights I can’t make it 10 feet down the hall to the bathroon without a cane in one hand and a bottle of pain killers in the other.

That could be over and done with.

Of course, there is still the nagging possibility that I’ll wake up from surgery tomorrow morning to hear that my doctor doesn’t know how to fix me and I’ll spend weeks recovering from surgery just to be back where I am right now… popping pills to deal with literally crippling pain.

God, you better not let that happen. I already lost the receipt for my running shoes so make with the mojo or you’ll have me on your hands. And I know who the new messiah is.
