OK, I lied, I’m still posting about the anniversary of 9/11. But I have good reason to, and that’s the special comment offered by Keith Olbermann on Monday’s Countdown.

Olbermann has offered several special comments as of late, and who could blame him. I’m sure, like many of us, he is just now disgusted by the whole lot of pompous, arrogant buffoons who occupy the highest seats in government.

I’m sure that he too is just tired of giving them one more chance to redeem themselves and seeing them fail so miserably to do so.

I’m sure he has grown weary of having one of the most painful moments in American history being wielded like a political cudgel by the very people who failed to prevent that day.

Most of all, I’m sure he is tired of having his intelligence, his morality and his patriotism called into question whenever he points out this administrations mistakes, hypocrisies and stark stupidity.

The death toll in Iraq is a grim odometer that measures how far this president and his ilk are willing to go before they can admit their own mistakes. And while they hesitate, other people’s children are the ones sacrificing their lives. Nearly 3,000 Americans lost their lives five years and two days ago in a horrific event that changed us all. Five years later, nearly 3,000 more Americans have died in a war that was a mistake to begin with and it shows no signs of stopping as long as this president “stays the course.”
