Note to New York Republican John Spencer: If you’re going to compare Hillary Clinton to Osama bin Laden, at least learn to spell “fascist” correctly in your TV ads.

Among the myriad things wrong with his ad, the most glaring was the mispelling of fascist. The other most glaring thing was that Hillary Clinton’s picture was put next to Bin Laden’s, very reminiscent of the kind of slander that cost Max Cleland his senate seat in 2002.

The ad is also factually inaccurate. It claims she did not support the Patriot Act, even though she voted for it in 2001 and to renew it in 2006. Also, it claims she did not support wiretap surveilance of terrorists, referring to the warrantless kind the president embarked upon. We’ll never really know if she supports it or not since it took a leak to the New York Times for most of Congress to even find out about the program.

Currently, John Spencer is about 30% behind Clinton in the polls.
