Cindy Sheehan seems to be doing better after being hospitalized due to exhaustion and dehydration. Not the Lindsay Lohan kind, the Gandhi kind. She was on a hunger strike, fasting for over a month, then she came to Texas, where we’ve been at triple digits almost every day for a month.

RoT chooses to make light of this. I at least can admire her dedication to her methods.

Anyway, she’s still here and some of those at Camp Casey can’t help but point out that the president is not.

Although the president took his shortest summer vacation yet and spent just 10 days at his Prairie Chapel Ranch this year before heading out of town with the White House press corps in tow, protesters plan to stake out new turf just off State Highway 317.

I really wish we would stop calling it a ranch. Ranches involve raising things, like cattle or pigs or something. He apparently raises brush so that he has something to clear when he goes on vacation. Ergo, this is his vacation house, or summer home.

“Regardless if Bush is here or not, we’ll be here,” said protester Dave Jensen, of Tyler. “I think all of us feel like he’s cut and run.”

Whether peace activist Cindy Sheehan will stay for the entire month depends on her health, fellow protester Tiffany Burns said this afternoon.

Sheehan was hospitalized in Seattle Thursday night and again at Providence Health Center in Waco on Friday and Saturday. She was released Sunday and has divided her recuperation between Willie Nelson’s home in Austin and a hotel in McGregor so she can use the hotel’s wireless internet and stay close to peace camp associates, Burns said.

She is very much contemplating moving to Crawford. She’s already registered to vote there.

There was a follow-up story this weekend from the business editor about the land deal involving Sheehan in the Trib as well.
