Strayhorn drops ‘Grandma’, breaks her hip
Published by Nate Nance July 27th, 2006 in Texas PoliticsYes, today Carole something or other dropped her lawsuit asking appear on the ballot in November as “Grandma.” Principally because that would confuse voters who would think they are voting for their actual grandma. And she realized it was a stupid lawsuit.
Calling it a critical time in the governor’s race, Strayhorn said further legal action would take her time and attention away from the real issues in campaign. She said she would keep using the name “Grandma” on the campaign trail and in advertisements.
“I just won’t be on the ballot with my nickname,” she said. “It’s not fair. It’s not right, but as I’ve taught my granddaughters, life’s not always fair.”
The real issues being who is, in fact, the greatest grandma in the world. And she’ll stop at nothing to break the competition.
She also is still running for governor, which means she might want to come up with her own positions at some point instead of just parroting what everybody else says. The story mentions who everybody else is, which is nice.
Democrat Chris Bell, independent candidate Kinky Friedman and Libertarian James Werner also are running for governor.
It’s almost like Strayhorn is the candidate to beat on the anybody-but-Perry side. The latest poll has her at 11%, by the way.
