Every year in Waco, the local Planned Parenthood and a number of other businesses sponsor a children’s sex education program called Nobody’s Fool. Basically, they divide kids up by gender and school grade to give them age-appropriate information.

Not everybody likes that, though. They want kids to only be taught about abstinence and to use information that factually inaccurate in order to scare kids into it. Local douchebag John Pisciotta is one such person.

Pisciotta, who leads Pro-Life Waco, said he believes Nobody’s Fool sends mixed messages to students by teaching abstinence while also promoting the use of contraceptives and approaching the subject of sex “in a recreational manner.”

“Implicitly, what you’re teaching is ‘This is what we expect you to do,’ ” he said.

“I think it’s fair to say that Planned Parenthood’s central issue with regard to sex is health choices,” he said, “and for those of us who oppose them, we feel much more that there are (also) moral choices, and virtuous choices.”

If I teach someone trigonometry, does that mean I am implicitly teaching them to use it everyday? That’s the most facetious argument one could make. Except that moral argument thing. Gonorrhea isn’t an immoral choice or an unvirtuous choice. It’s a bacterial infection, it doesn’t distinguish moral people from immoral people. If you know a few things about safe sex, you might be able to avoid not get it. Do you see what I mean about him being a douchebag?

Pisciotta held a brief news conference at the convention center, presenting his own research suggesting that Planned Parenthood had under-reported instances of statutory rape during the past six years. He said he found only 20 instances in which the clinic reported statutory rape cases to the Waco Police Department between 2000 and 2005.

Smallwood dismissed the claim, saying her own quick research turned up 147 reports made between February 2004 and Wednesday.

“He doesn’t have all his facts straight,” she said.
