Plano Episcopal church to pull out

Christ Church Episcopal in Plano, one of the largest Episcopal congregations in the United States, has announced that it will leave the denomination over what it sees as the Episcopal Church’s leftward drift…

“The mission of Christ Church is to make disciples and teach them to obey the commands of Christ,” said a statement approved by Christ Church’s leaders this weekend. “Jesus was very clear, no fags and no women.”

Can you guess which part I made up?

I’m not going to tell people how to run their church. Everybody’s got their own view of what the Bible says, but I’m always awed by how people almost universally miss the point of Jesus’ teachings. In this instance, they are so disturbed by who would be relaying the message that they miss the message of tolerance. The point of the story of the good Samaritan was that we should treat all others as brothers.

But, if they want to take their ball and go home, I guess they can.
