Without a modem

I slept a large chunk of the day, but when I did get up I was horrified to discover that I had no cable and no Internet. It was very, very painful. I mean, what am I going to do, read a book?

So I didn’t get around to reading a lot of news this morning. Luckily, the cable and sanity returned right as I was leaving for work and the soothing, duclet tones of Lou Dobbs kept me from going over the edge.

I did catch up on some of my recorded shows that I haven’t bothered to watch yet. All those episodes of Ed the Sock’s Night Party came in handy after all. If you’ve ever watched the show, you might catch the pun.

And there was a new show from last night that I’m really happy that I DVRed: Saved. TNT offered a commercial-free pilot and I took advantage of it.

For a new show, it was really good. It could have been ER only in an ambulance, but the writers were definitely going somewhere, somewhere better. I didn’t really like some of the camera work and direction; I kept thinking it was an MTV music video. But the story and characterization carries it through and if they can just get past trying to be edgy with a shaky camera and do it with more of the plot I saw last night, this will definitely be something I tune to on Monday nights.

Speaking of great television shows, the two episode reruns of House, second season continue tonight on Fox. Thank the gods (God? Forest spirit? What is it I’m supposed to be worshipping Ann?) that the cable came back on before House did, otherwise I would have been pissed.

Speaking of Coulter, I couldn’t make it through two segments of Larry King last night. One of his panelists was seriously trying to defend what Coulter has said about 9/11 widows as satire. Dude, it’s not satire, she’s just crazy. But in talking it over with a co-worker, I’ve decided to review her book. Since I’m already damned to hell, I’m not going to compound things by buying her book. So I’m just going to sit at B&N Thursday and Friday and read it for free.
I’ve got a lot of emails to go through from readers sending in ideas and links, and I’ve got to work since it is Starburst Junior Golf Week.
