Kudos to me

I wrote a Myspace bulletin yesterday.

In the normal course of my day yesterday (I was buying a gallon of Bush’s sweet tea) I ran into an old friend. A girl I had a serious crush on in high school.

She was a sophomore when I was a senior. Now, she has been married for 2 years and has a 1-year-old daughter. Everything about this encounter is enough to remind me that I am, in fact, getting really old.

I’m only 23, but the pace of the world today makes me feel as though life may have already passed me by. Or I’m just a drama queen that had one of those moments where everything seems like the way I want it to be. The reality is that she is also extremely young and that life is still totally ahead of me since I am unencumbered by a spouse and offspring. That’s what I will have to keep telling myself.

A friend from high school that reconnected with me through Myspace responds:

i’m glad someone else feels the same way! but don’t worry; i’m with ya! i’m just dating, no marriage, no kids! we’re the last hope out of mcgregor nathan! unlike all the other bozos we knew, we can travel the world, drink ourselves silly whenever and will be rich because we waited to be boring married parents! i say kudos to you!

Yes, but I’m still living with my parents.
