Weekend getaway
Published by Nate Nance April 29th, 2006 in WeekenderIt’s been a good day so far. I got up early and started watching the Style network (there is nothing else on at 5:30 in the morning, believe me) then it was off to get my morning breve.
I actually ended up with a latte, which has upset my stomach (when you are lactose intolerant, you cut corners where you can on dairy). While at Texas Tea and Coffee, I ran into cousin Yvonne. Cousin David, I found out, is returning tomorrow to start his one-month residency. June he will start his 5th year of medical school in his lifelong quest to become a pediatrician.
Before I go on my Saturday Sabatical, I wanted to link to this Slate column on ending a blog. I have to tell you, it has been a seductive idea sometimes to just quit blogging. If you look back at the Old Blogger site, you can see I actually did quit for several months after I started. There is a good 4-month gap between the start of primary season 2004 and my taking blogging up with a vengeance afterward.
On weeks like this week, when the stress gets high and the job gets in the way of the blogging, I do wonder at just how easy it would be to just give up. But then I think of all of you and the tremendous knowledge I impart (especially the hotness of certain chicks) and I just can’t see the world wide web doing without me. I’m kind of egotistical, aren’t I (don’t answer that).
For the real reason, read this other Slate piece on addiction to blogging (scroll down to Tuesday).
I also want to link to Sean-Paul Kelley’s site. He will be travelling and trekking the hinterlands of China in less than a week. Keep up on his adventures through podcasts and V-casts.
