Action Alert Squad, assemble!
Published by Nate Nance April 24th, 2006 in Texas PoliticsI just got an action alert email telling me to tell my representative to vote no on HB 1. Do you hear me Doc Anderson, vote no. Oh, that’s right. He doesn’t care what I think. Silly me.
Today, the House will vote on HB1 and HB2. HB1 will undermine school equalization funding and HB 2 will dedicate all funds from future business taxes to property tax relief and none to education. It’s time to get involved for our kids.
Please call your legislator NOW and tell them you support education excellence and equity and you OPPOSE HB1 and HB2. You can find your legislator and their contact information at http://www.capitol.state.tx.us/fyi/fyi.htm.
You don’t know what’s in each of the bills? Didn’t you read Captiol Annex this weekend? You can find a rundown of the bills here.
The Education Petition Supporters group says no on HBs 1 and 2 and a bunch of crazies led by Gina Parker (God, I hope somebody is getting pictures of that) are protesting the new business tax in HBs 3-5. Between the two opposing groups, I think they’ve figured out that these bills suck and that our Lege is a group of retards. Special session? More like Special Olympics.
(Ed. note: I just woke up and have not had my coffee yet. The jokes are going to be kinda lame. Sorry.)
